Kia ora,
We are learning about what the Earth is like on the outside and the inside. We used hard-boiled eggs as mini-models for the earth. We got to design our own continents and islands on the outside of the egg shell. At the end of the experiment we got to eat the egg!
Here is the Link to the Science experiment report we wrote with the teacher at the end of our experiment.

Saphera's Structure of the Earth
Ki Ora, welcome to my blog. Today my class has been learning about the Structure of the Earth. We created little models of Earth. Here is my writing and photo of my group. In the photo it looks like I am eating the clay, but I am not. I hope you like my blog.
Structure of the Earth Facts
We are learning about the structure of the Earth.
I learnt that the Earth is made up of 4 layers. They are: Crust, Mantle, Outer Core, Inner Core.
Facts about each layer:
Crust - 8-40 kms thick. It is solid and brittle
Mantle - Rocks thickest - squishy liquid. The Mantle is very rocky and hot.
Outer Core - 4000 - 6000℃ - Totally Liquid - Rock
Inner Core - Solid made of Metal and Nickel. The inner core even though it is very
hot, it is solid because of the pressure pushing down on it from the layers above.

Our group - Annelise, Aaidyn, Saphera
First we created a 3D image of the Earth using modeling clay, knife and paint
We then cut the shape in half to show the different layers. After waiting for it to dry, we identified
each layer by painting them in different colours.

Below are some pictures of our work.
